About OCGA

One community, one future.

The Oromo Community of Georgia is a statewide hub serving Oromo families across Atlanta and beyond - through culture, faith, sports, education, and family support.

Our Mission

To unite, empower, and uplift Oromo families across Georgia by preserving culture, expanding opportunity, and building a connected, family-friendly community hub.

Our Vision

A thriving, statewide Oromo community where every family, youth, elder, and business has a place to belong, learn, lead, and grow.

Our Story

History of OCGA

Founded by Oromo families building roots in Georgia, OCGA grew from informal gatherings and Afoosha groups into a statewide community organization. From the first ATL Barisa Soccer team in 1996 to today's network of youth programs, faith communities, and small businesses, OCGA exists because of the people who showed up for one another.

Today we serve children, teens, parents, elders, and entrepreneurs across the metro Atlanta region - and we are just getting started.
